RubFile is a file utility. It is built so that, in most cases, your file never leaves the device you are using. This page explains exactly what happens to a file you choose, what is stored, and what is not.
Work that happens on your device
Image compression, image conversion, image optimisation and every PDF operation — compress, merge, split, organise, rotate, delete pages, extract pages, PDF to images and images to PDF — run inside the app on your own device. The file is read into memory, processed and written back locally. It is not uploaded for these operations.
Work that needs an external conversion service
Converting Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents to PDF cannot be done reliably on a phone, so it is performed by an isolated conversion service. This never happens silently: RubFile asks for your explicit agreement first and tells you before the file is sent.
When you agree, the file is transferred over an encrypted connection, converted in a sandboxed environment, returned to you, and the uploaded copy together with the produced copy is deleted from that service immediately after the conversion. The service does not keep your document, does not index its contents and is not used to train anything.
AI enhancement
Image enhancement that requires a model runs outside your device and is therefore also consent-gated: nothing is sent unless you agree to it for that specific image. Local adjustments that happen on your device are never described as AI.
The “My files” log
The list of recent operations is stored in this browser's own local database on your device. It holds the file name, the file type, the operation used, the size before and after, the time of the operation and — while it is small enough — the produced file itself so you can download it again.
That log is not uploaded anywhere. It is not synchronised between your devices. Clearing it, or clearing this app's site data, removes it permanently.
What is measured
RubFile collects anonymous, aggregate usage counts — for example how often a tool ran and whether it succeeded — to see which tools are worth keeping and which are failing. These counts contain no file contents, no file names and nothing that identifies you or your device.
What RubFile does not do
- No accounts and no sign-in.
- No cloud storage of your files.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
- No advertising and no advertising trackers.
- No reading of your file contents by us.
Children
RubFile is a general-purpose utility with no account system and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If the way files are handled changes, this page changes with it, and the date above is updated. Material changes to external processing will always remain consent-gated in the app itself.
